Melcher Tschiemer's 1996 cassette album "Il Filostrato (The Man Struck Down By Love)". Melcher Tschiemer was an outsider musician active in Orlando, Florida from about 1992 through 1997. He made numerous home recordings using a handheld cassette tape recorder and a Tascam 4-track recorder. None of Melcher Tschiemer's recordings were ever released and he never performed live. To kick off the multi-channel escapades of Mono, we were lucky enough to get the good Doctor himself to contribute a nice elektronik tune - this is an offcut from the Team17 game "Project X2", currently being developed for Playstation and Saturn. As I'm sure most of you know, Bjorn is in-house musician at Team17, software company behind a lot of famous old Amiga software and, more recently, "Worms". Wow. I hate being accused of over-hyping Mono, but this track just rules. I've been listening to almost constantly ever since Mortimer Tee mailed it to me about 3 or 4 weeks ago, and I'm delighted I finally got a chance to release it. What's the step above that Mortimer takes? I'm not really sure, but his tunes have so much soul, and that's all too often missing in MODs. And yet, it's got the moves too - listen to that drum-break strut and spin. *sigh*. Anyhow, enough hype. Just enjoy.

Well, here's the sister piece to the rather wicked "Streetbeat", and whereas that tune was a freestyle jam, this one's a straight-forward example of Mortimer Tee chopping things up like only he can. :) Please note that this tune has been licensed from the Black Sista Allstarz, who are officially(tm) kicking it in 96. :P And watch out for more static+reverb-soaked Wu-Twang Clan ramblings in the near future.. murderah!

Subi's debut Mono release, and an example of his inimitable, pretty much indescribable style. All I can say is that nobody else is composing MODs quite like this at the moment, and the closest parallel I can think of for his work is the Utah Saints. :) Poor old Subi has been stuck on an A500 up to now (maximumlength of MODs 350k for him!), but now he's getting an A1200, expect some real big new tunes. Wu-Twanging it into '96, Mortimer Tee shows us how that funky drummer thing is done. Again. What's nice about Mortimer's tunes is that they're original, stylistically. Some cool dub influences, skirting the hiphop/jungle border skilfully, looping and skipping his way to a blunted existence, that's our Mr. Tee. Wonder if he sprung Face from the mental hospital to help him with this effort? :)

Well, Mono's especially pleased to feature a guest release from one of the masters of the PC elektronik sound, Keith303 of Radical Rhythms. Here we go again with one of the strangest Mono releases so far, but still a _very_ nice one. Carebear's got some strange ideas in that twisted little head of his, anyhow. :) This tune is actually quite choppy in a weird way, but it's flowing too. And lots of nice percussion always makes me feel better after a long day at the office. See, we _do_ come up with something different to the normal trance/jungle output we seem to put out.

Once again return we, with some reasonably attractive tunes in tow. Gorsh, it's that devious Dutch type TheFoxII, with some funk funk dunkin' super chunky tunes. Am I making sense today, or wot? [Subi, wot is sitting next to me sez 'NO!'] Anyhow, enjoy the MODs. See you next time on the tunnel of love. :)

This song is something I've been playing with for a while now - mainly I'm too busy at uni to concentrate on songs, but I finally got round to finishing this one. I think it's fairly original, and there's no drum loops, etc (everything came from a few sample CDs, as individual instruments.) I hope you enjoy it. :)

Part 2.0 of whirldominaschaaan begins with the start of the real Mono multichannel releases, and the first one's a trancey, beats+feet-led kikker from ChuckB (Australian ex-Kosmic member, no mook at composing, ya know.) And I do believe he's actually got a 303 (cue for all other Mono members to trample him to the ground. :P ) Nice use of an old Otis tune in there, too - in fact, mucho respecto, gringo all round. Am I making sense? :)

The debut release from the rather attuned Relief, and one of his neato multichannel tunes, grudgingly made after his Amiga keyboard broke. This is in the kinda style you don't normally hear on a PC... isn't it? On the unclassifiable side, but wikkedness increase - listen to those drums stutter 'n roll and enjoy.

Well, it's taken me almost 50 Mono releases, but I (h0l) have finally got round to releasing a proper tune on Mono (my other two releases were just cleaning up some minor unreleased stuff, really.) Phew. And it's my first tune for 6 months, too, due to final exams at uni, my new job, and running Mono all getting in the way. Anyhow, hope you enjoy the result. The "I wanna be a spaceman" sample is courtesy of Mr. Noel Gallagher of the popular beat combo Oasis, by the way, and it's...

Well, this is a Subi tune from a year or two ago which never got released, so I figured it was time to give it away now. It's pretty original, not least because the speeded-up voice is Subi himself and it's his own lyrics. Oh, and "the animal is back" figures in the words because the tune was construkted when Subi and I were in Desire. And that's their slogan. Sorted. Oh, and I think the main break is from Prodigy "One Love", isn't it? Finally, try saying the title out loud...

Another substantial release from the marvellous minimal-trancer, and this time a mellower track, twinned with a trademark phasing, hihat-smearing tune. 4 channels ain't dead. :) There's more to come - watch out for a distinctly non-trademark triphop track from Substance in the coming releases. Whee, and what's more, wheee.
